This is one of my favourite new bands at the moment, they are based in Australia and I've been lucky enough to see them 3 times. Incredible playing, song writing and sound.

Jazz

Here is a great example of some fantastic jazz playing. Notice the swing patten on the ride cymbal and the improvising on the snare and bass drum - and how he keeps the ride pattern going no matter what he plays on the snare and bass!

Hi everyone,
I've decided to make a page for online resources geared towards my students. When it comes to finding online material, I know it can be overwhelming and if you aren't sure what you are looking for, it can be tough to even begin. In this section of my website I will post videos and resources that you might find useful that fit in well with the methods I teach. Also I will post things that have inspired me and that make me excited about drumming. Please leave a comment below if there is anything more specific you are looking for and I'll find it for you!

Of course, let's start off with a great video of my drum teacher (I studied with him during my time at Leeds College of Music. He had a profound impact on my playing, my approach to teaching and music in general and although I don't study with him on a regular basis I still consider him my drum teacher as I'm still working on all the stuff he showed me), Dave Walsh talking about various techniques on the practice pad to develop and even up your hands. He discusses finger technique, rudimental studies, double strokes and also features clips of him on the drum kit. This is worth watching all the way through even if you feel that the exercises may be too advanced for you. Watch the way he plays, his hand position and relaxed upper body. He throws in some great overall thoughts about playing (in a very concise and articulate way) which is valuable to everyone no matter how long you've been playing!

Below is a video that give some good tuning tips - and they don't buy new heads or use fancy muffling equipment.
Great intro lesson on brushes from the legend Peter Erskine:
